Abstract:
Pterygota alata (Roxb.) R. Brown was a newly recorded huge arboreal species in genus
Pterygota Schott & Endl. of family Sterculiaceae in Yunnan Province, which was found with scattered distribution in the Yingjiang valley in Tongbiguan Nature Reserve. Meanwhile the genus
Pterygota Schott & Endl. was also recorded for the first time in Yunnan Province.
Pterygota alata (Roxb.) R. Brown is one of the tallest tree species to form the upper canopy of local Assamica monsoon forest. Because the population of this rare species is quite small, it deserves to be well protected and to be further studied.
