Abstract:
Dendrolimus latipenis is an important insect pest that damages the needle leaves of pine. Its life history and biological characteristics were described in this paper. It was observed that
Dendrolimus latipenis occurred only one generation in Tengchong County, with egg overwintering on the pine needles. Adults of
Dendrolimus latipenis usually emerged during 21:00 pm and 3:00 am, courted and mated at night. Emergence quantity of
Dendrolimus latipenis was affected by temperature and rainfall during the emergence period, and the adults mainly oviposited on the surface of pine needles and on shrubs. Guided by the theories of bringing the function of the biodiversity of forest ecosystem into full play and promoting the ecological balance inside the ecosystem, the integrated control strategies were proposed as follows:protecting and culturing the underground vegetation to promote the development of natural enemies by carrying out rational forest management technologies;spraying the biological pesticide of
Beauveria spp.combined with removing the pupae in time.
