Abstract: Base on the research documents about Acer truncatum, the current situation of the researches related to the biological characteristics, sapling breeding techniques, afforestation tests, the extracting of useful compounds and the analyzing of principal component of Acer truncatum were discussed. The major research fields for Acer truncatum in the future were pointed out vs. the weak aspects in the related study, and the following suggestions were proposed as:strengthen collection and conservation of wild germplasm resource of Acer truncatum;carry out researches on genetic improvement and silvicultural regime for high timber production;speed new product development to meet demand of the market.
