Abstract: The relationship between traditional concepts of nature and ecology, traditional culture & customs of Hani ethnical minority people and forest resource management and utilization by Hani people was analyzed. PRA methodology was adopted, integrated with literature review and investigation into several Hani villages in Maandi Township, Jinping County, Yunnan Province. The cognitive system of forest resource of Hani people, management and utilization patterns of forest resources and related experiences of the ethnical minority were summarized in the paper.
