Abstract: The development cause and the general situation of the study on the compensation of forest ecological benefits in China were summarized. The study achievements in this field including mainly the definition, theoretical basis, the range, standard and the manner for the compensation, together with sources of the compensation capitals were discussed. The compensation mechanism and some other practical problems related to the compensation works were analyzed. The significance and the research prospects were elaborated.
