Abstract:
The seed dormancy and germination properties of Acer buergerianum were studied by means of applying determination of water permeability of pericarp, the bioassays of embryo and pericarp extracts, the stratification treatment and soaking with GA solution. It was showed by the results that the germination inhibitor within the seed was the main cause for seed dormancy, soaking with GA solution could reduce the duration of low temperature stratification and promote the seed germination. It was showed that the seed dormancy could be gradually overcome by low temperature stratification after six weeks.
