Abstract: It was showed by the survey that there were 90 major landscaping tree species belonging to 55 families that were planted in the central urban area of Hongta District,Yuxi Municipality. The tree species were divided into 5 categories according to the landscaping purposes,i.e.,street tree species,ornamental tree species, specimen and scattering planted tree species,vertical greening tree species and hedge tree species in the course of survey and analysis. The problems existing in the application of these tree species were analyzed and the improvement countermeasures were proposed.
