Abstract: A comparative experiment was conducted with container and bare-root bamboo saplings to determine the afforestation effect. The results showed that the afforestation with container bred bamboo saplings had higher survival rate and shooting and maintaining rates. The saplings were easier to be tended and transported for planting. There was no evident buffer period after being planted,so it was flexible in terms of planting season,the plantations grew faster. It was showed that container bred bamboo saplings should be extended in afor-estation in Xinping County.
