Abstract:
The eggshell samples of
Lophophorus sclateri and
Ithaginis cruentus which were collected from Mt. Gaoligong were examined by scanning electron microscope. Thickness of each layer, diameter and density of vesicular holes, width of membrane fiber and other 3 chareacters were measured and compared Results indicated that there was no significant difference in eggshell width of outer membrane fiber between two kinds of pheasant. Diameter of vesicular holes and width of inner membrane fiber of
I.cruentus were significantly higher than
L.sclateri (
P < 0.05). The other 5 characters of
L.sclateri were significantly higher than
I.cruentus (
P < 0.05). Eggshell thickness of
L.sclateri were significantly higher than
I.cruentus (
P < 0.05) because of the greater weight of
L.sclateri. The vesicular holes were more significantly densely distributed on the eggshell of
L.sclateri (
P < 0.05) that in accordance with its flying habit.
