Abstract:
In order to specify the damage and occurrence regularity of
Ceroplastes pseudoceriferus in Kunming. Host plant species, damage, and life history of
Ceroplastes pseudoceriferus from 2014 to 2016 were investigated. The development and reproduction of
Ceroplastes pseudoceriferus on 9 species of host plants were also studied. Result showed that there were 38 plant species belong to 21 families were infected by
Ceroplastes pseudoceriferus, of which 11 species including
Pistacia chinensi,
Diospyros lotus,
Elaeocarpus decipiens,
Rhododendron delavayi,
Bischofia polycarpa,
Magnolia praecocissima,
Magnolia delavayi,
Fallopia multiflora,
Photinia glomerata,
Crataegus scabrifolia and
Koelreuteria paniculata were firstly reported.
Malus halliana,
Parakmeria yunnanensis,
Michelia sphaerantha, Michelia yunnanensis,
Magnolia praecocissima,
Magnolia denudate,
Acer buergerianum and
Elaeocarpus decipiens were seriously damaged by this pests. The pests which on
Magnolia praecocissima had 1 generation a year in Kunming 2
nd and 3
rd instar nymphs could overwinter. The adults laid eggs in late July, the 1
st instar nymph was found in middle of August. The egg stage of
Ceroplastes pseudoceriferus on
Magnolia praecocissim,
Magnolia denudate and
Elaeocarpus decipiens was the longest, about 70 d, and on
Malus halliana,
Magnolia yunnanensis,
Koelreuteria paniculata and
Acer buergerianum was the shortest, about 56 d. The 1
st inatar nymph stage ranged from 56 d on
Elaeocarpus decipiens to 28 d on
Malus halliana.
