Abstract:
Pollen grains of 5 species in
Saurauia Willd. (Actinidiaceae) were examined using scanning electronic microscope (SEM). The pollens were consistently characterized by the small-sized and spherioidal shape with 3-lobed circular in outline in polar view. On the other side, pollen micromorphology is varied clearly between species, which could be used as identification of species, such as the presence or absence of a rectangle ora in tricolporate aperture, the type of aperture (3-colporoidate or tricolportae), and the rugulate exine sculptures (with foveroatle, or finely, or roughly reticulate apertures). Some features of
Saurauia were unique and informative taxonomically in Actinidiaceae, as well as among its related families.
