Analysis on Nutritional Value of Leaves of Wild Feeding Plants of Moschus berezovskii

Abstract: In order to study the nutritional requirements of forest musk deer in captivity and supplement the natural food sources of forest musk deer, the nutritional composition and amino acid composition of leaves of 10 field food plants of forest musk deer in Malkang Musk Farm of Sichuan Province were analyzed. The results showed that there were great differences in the contents of soluble sugar, protein and fat in the leaves of 10 kinds of plants, and the leaves of food-loving plants could not meet the nutritional requirements of the whole age and full-cycle feeding of forest musk deer. Essential amino acids account for 40%–43% of the total amino acids, and the ratio of essential amino acids to non-essential amino acids is 0.67–0.74, which is higher than the protein reference model proposed by WHO/FAO. The amino acid ratio coefficient method was used to analyze the extent to which the essential amino acids in 10 plants deviated from the WHO/FAO amino acid pattern from the point of view of amino acid balance. The contents of cystine + methionine and lysine were relatively insufficient. The first limiting amino group was cystine + methionine. It is suggested that forage grasses with high content of cystine and methionine should be supplemented to improve the nutritional balance of amino acids in food plants.
