Abstract:
A survey was conducted on the 24year old openly pollinated family offspring of Cunninghamia lanceolata plus tree that are provincially uniform numbered in Fushun National Forest Farm, Sichuan Province. The differences in major growth traits and the correlations among different growth traits of 45 families were analyzed, the superiority of these families were appraised, the genetic parameters and genetic gains were assessed by means of comparative study and variation analysis. The results showed that there were significant differences in height, DBH and standing volume among the 45 families. The standing volume was intermediately under genetic control, whereas the height and DBH were weakly under genetic control. 7 superior families with good growth performance were selected from 45 openly pollinated families mainly according to standing volume in combination with height and DBH indices. The average values of genetic gains of volume, height and DBH were 1855%, 271% and 674%, respectively. These superior families showed good growth traits and could be used for seed orchard plantation and applied for extension as potential genetic breeding materials.
