Abstract:
The growth model of the Pinus spp. forest stands was built with the average DBH and average height of the trees by means of applying the inventory data obtained from 1142 fixed sample plots set for successive survey on forest resources in Altay State Forestry Managenment Brueau, Xinjiang, in order to reduce the field survey workload for forest resource planning and design. The data updating method for current survey was provided by using the average DBH and average height of the stands calculated in the former survey period of time. The precision test of the prediction experiment was conducted to verify the results by applying the survey data collected from 39 subcompartment and the paired T test. The results showed that the mean relative error of the average DBH and average height of the prediction was 0.79%, and the relative total error was 0.16% and 8.43%, and the prediction accuracy for the average DBH and average height was 98.33% and 96.53% respectively. The results indicated that the method was reliable and might be extended for application.
