Abstract:
The research on the growth laws of the 1st and 2nd generations of Eucalyptus grandis × Eucalyptus urophylla plantations in south Fujian Province were conducted regarding the DBH (diameter at breast height), height and volume of the trees and the corresponding growth models were built. The results showed that the average growth increment of DBH, height and volume of the 2nd rotation developed from sprouts of the 1st rotation were all significantly lower than those of the 1st rotation, which indicated that more attention should be paid to the management of the 1st rotation plantation of this tree species in terms of increasing the utilization efficiency of forest land. It has been showed by the practice that there is a great prosperity to develop E. grandis × E. urophylla plantation in the south part of Fujian Province, which is suitable to be grown as afforestation tree species for industrial raw material production with short rotations.
