Abstract:
Supported by the GIS, RS technology and FRAGSTATS software for landscape pattern analysis, the change of land use landscape pattern of the Jingtai irrigation area in the year 1987, 1991, 1999 and 2003 was analyzed individually by means of applying the landscape pattern indexes including diversity, dominance and uniformity. The results indicated that the general trend of land use types in the studied area was the decline of grassland, Gobi, sandy land, salinealkaline land area, while increase of the cultivated land, woodland and residential areas. The substantial increase in cultivated land made the landscape matrix turned from the Gobi and grassland in 1987 into Gobi and cultivated land in 2003. The average patch areas of the cultivated land, Gobi, grassland and sandy land were relatively enlarged, whereas the average patch sizes of the forest land, salinealkaline land and residential areas were reduced than before. With the exploitation, construction and utilization of land resource in the Jingtai irrigation area, the landscape dominance was decreased but landscape diversity and landscape evenness were relatively increased. Generally speaking, there was a significant correlation between the change of each landscape index and the human activities
