Abstract:
Taking the closetonature Phyllostachys pubescens stand in Tianmu Mountain National Nature Reserve in Zhejiang Province as the object, the influence of different site conditions upon the shoot number and the bamboo timber volume at community level was studied based on the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) technique. The single terrain factor analysis showed that the shoot number of P. pubescens tended to increase along with the increment of slope gradient in the closetonature stand. The change of shoot number was more sensitive than the change of bamboo wall volume to the slope aspect. There was no significant difference between the change of shoot number, the change of bamboo wall volume and the change in terrain relief. Based on the compound terrain factor analysis, the combinations of slope aspect, the slope gradient, the roughness of the terrain surface had varied influence on the growth and development of P. pubescens.
