Abstract:
According to the growth characteristics of Jatropha curcas, the trees in the same experiment plot with similar initial fruit bearing stage, similar tree shape and about the same growth status were sampled to be treated with branch bending before sprouting. Four treatments of branch bending angles were designed, i.e., the angles between the trunk and the main branches was 50°, 60°, 70° and 80° individually, 4 plants were contained in each treatment and there were 3 replications for each treatment, which were grouped by random block design method. The sprout number and distribution, sprout growth rate and fruiting rate per inflorescence were recorded and statistically analyzed. The results indicated that the angle of branch bending influenced significantly on the sprout number and distribution, the sprout type and the fruit bearing capacity per inflorescence of Jatropha curcas trees.
