Abstract:
The nutritional condition of the zoo raised blue peafowl (Pavo cristatus)in Yunnan Wild Zoo was evaluated by regular laboratory nutrient determination of coarse protein (CP),EE,Ash, calcium (Ca) and phosphorous (P) contents out of the food artificially fed to the birds. The results showed that the protein, Ca and P nutrition elements from the food supplied by the zoo were not sufficient to meet the nutritional demand of growth, development and reproduction stages of the birds. It was proposed that the nutrition ration of the blue peafowls in the zoo should be adjusted by different seasons and physiological phases to improve the healthy condition of the birds.
