Abstract:
The wood physical and mechanical properties of 24 year old Cunninghamia konishii trees introduced and grown in Fujian Province were tested. The results indicated that the airdried wood density of C. konishii was 0344g/cm3, the tangential shrinkage ratio was 602%, the tangential wetswelling ratio was 644%, the water absorption rate was 237.81%, the compression strength parallel to grain was 6004MPa, the bend elastic modulus was 7 250.81 MPa, the bending strength was 59.84 MPa, and the tensile strength parallel to grain was 628MPa. The test results showed that the wood properties of C. konishii were quite similar with those of C. lanceolata. The usage of C. konishii can be referred to C. lanceolata. The safety coefficient of C. lanceolata wood could be applied to C. konishii wood while being processed as timber component.
