Abstract:
The feasibility study of laminated veneer lumber(LVL)manufacturing from Salix discolor was discussed in this research, analyzing the effects of hotpressing temperature, hotpressing time and glue spread amount on the physicalmechanical properties of Salix discolor LVL. The results showed that the manufacturing of Salix discolor LVL is feasible. Along with the increment of the hotpressing temperature, the mechanical properties of Salix discolor LVL were improved, but when the temperature reached 150 ℃, the MOE⊥, MOR⊥ and MOE∥, MOR∥ began to decrease. TS was increased correspondingly as the hotpressing temperature increases, changed in the range of 505%-592%. When the hotpressing time was 10 min/mm, the MOE⊥, MOR⊥ and MOE∥, MOR∥ of Salix discolor LVL reached to a maximum, with the value of 513513MPa, 6994 MPa and 575957MPa, 6954 MPa, respectively. As the extension of hotpressing time, TS showed a trend of the first increase and then decrease, but the range of change was not large. With the increase of glue spread amount, the MOE⊥, MOR⊥ and MOE∥, MOR∥ of Salix discolor LVL had different degrees of increase, glue spread amount 280g/m2, MOE⊥ and MOR⊥ reached a maximum, while glue spread amount was 240g/m2, MOE∥, MOR∥ reached the maximum and TS had a minimum value. In the range of experimental study, the proposed technological parameters were: hotpressing temperature 135 ℃, hotpressing time 10min/mm, glue spread amount 240g/m2.
